| Elizabeth Garrett-Mayer, PhD, FASCO, FSCTVice President of the Center for Research and Analytics (CENTRA) that leads the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s research efforts, including two clinical trials and programs aimed at dose optimization, improving access to clinical trials, and oncology workforce issues. Prior to ASCO, she was faculty at Johns Hopkins in the Department of Oncology and then the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where she established the Biostatistics Shared Resource at the Hollings Cancer Center (HCC). She earned her PhD in Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University. Her publication record includes more than 350 peer-reviewed publications. She serves on the board of The Society for Clinical Trials, has been a member of numerous NIH grant review committees, task forces, steering groups, and DSMBs and is on the editorial board of three peer-reviewed journals. She has served as course director for both the ASCO-AACR Methods in Clinical Cancer Workshop and the SITC Clinical Immuno-Oncology Network Workshop. |
| Diana Romero, PhDDiana Romero obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain) in 2005 and was a postdoctoral researcher for almost 10 years, first at Maine Medical Center Research Institute (USA) and then at Imperial College London (UK). Her main research interest was cell signalling in cancer. In 2015, she joined Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology as an Associate Editor to take a more-active role in science communication. She became Chief Editor of the journal in 2017. Diana enjoys handling articles discussing the role of tumour biology in treatment outcomes, as well as societal aspects associated with cancer treatment. |
| Prof. Dr. Marcelo Gerardin Poirot LandSuperintendent of Education, Research, and Innovation at the University Hospital Complex of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) since June 2024. Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Maternal and Child Health at IPPMG/UFRJ from 2018 to 2024. Postdoctoral fellow in Cancer Epidemiology (2001). PhD in Public Health from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). Master’s degree in Psychoanalytic Theory from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, 1993). Full Professor of Pediatric Hematology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), in the Department of Pediatrics. Specialist in Hematology and Pediatric Hematology. Permanent faculty member of the Graduate Programs in Internal Medicine and Maternal and Child Health at UFRJ. Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Maternal and Child Health at UFRJ–IPPMG. Member of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Pediatric Onco-Biotechnology (INCT BioOncoPed) since 2023. Head of the Pediatric Hematology Division at IPPMG-UFRJ. Member of the National Health Council, representing ABRAHUE (2006–2009). Coordinator of the UFRJ Hospital Complex (2011–2012). General Director of IPPMG-UFRJ (2006–2010). |
| Julie R. Gralow, MD, FACP, FASCOJulie R. Gralow, MD, is Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). She is a breast medical oncologist and Professor (emeritus) of Medical Oncology and Global Health at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Gralow is the former Executive Officer for Breast and Lung Cancer and Vice Chair of the Breast Cancer Committee for the SWOG Cancer Clinical Trials Network. In her role as ASCO CMO, Dr. Gralow serves as a public spokesperson for ASCO. She directly oversees ASCO’s Center for Research and Analytics (CENTRA), Policy and Advocacy and Care Delivery Departments, and Center for Global Impact. She is committed to improving quality of life for cancer patients, and is co-Founder of Team Survivor Northwest, a non-profit helping female cancer survivors improve their health through fitness and exercise, and the Women’s Empowerment Cancer Advocacy Network (WE CAN) to support cancer advocacy and education in low- and middle-income countries. |

The unit’s activities include: design of clinical studies, critical review of research projects, data management for clinical studies, development of case report forms (CRFs) in REDCap and OpenClinica, and statistical analyses using R. |
| Mark Krailo, PhD
Responsible for the design and analysis of investigator-initiated clinical trials. These include early stage trials of novel therapies for adults with cancer. He was involved with studies in the Department of Urology focused on refining methods for biopsy in prostate cancer and I served on the Scientific Review Committee for the cancer center. At the Children’s Oncology Group, he has designed, monitored, analyzed and reported phase 1, 2 and 3 studies in cancers of children and young adults. Additionally, collaborated in the reporting of secondary analyses from clinical trials in pediatric oncology. Lastly, he serves on the executive committee for the Malignant Germ Cell International Consortium (MaGIC). |

She holds a PhD in Public Health and seeks to combine her academic skills with her personal experience in a meaningful advocacy journey, focusing on quality of life, clinical research, and health policies. The doctor–patient relationship and shared decision-making in healthcare are also frequent themes in her contributions. She is a volunteer and a member of the Patient Committee of the Oncoguia Institute. |
