Aurora Program
The AURORA Program (Programa AURORA), established by CAPES, aims to provide academic and scientific support to female professors who are pregnant or mothers of children up to two years of age, who are affiliated with CAPES-recommended stricto sensu graduate programs. The AURORA Program was established by Ordinance No. 129/2026.
The program seeks to promote the continuity of research and teaching activities during pregnancy and the post-maternity leave period, recognizing motherhood as a legitimate dimension of the academic career. Through parenting support initiatives and the integration of postdoctoral researchers, AURORA strengthens gender equity, fosters inclusive institutional practices, and contributes to the retention and appreciation of women in science.
Participation in the program takes place through public calls for applications, with clear and defined criteria set forth in the call for proposals, ensuring opportunities for academic development aligned with the needs of female professors who balance a scientific career with motherhood.
