INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW COURSE (CDICA)
Objective
To develop competencies, based on studies related to International Humanitarian Law - IHL, for high-level advisory roles on matters of interest to the Armed Forces and bodies involved in international peace processes and mitigation of the effects of armed conflicts, in the field of IHL.
Audience
a) civilians appointed by invited institutions, state-run or private, national or of friendly nations, preferably, of the legal area;
b) preferably senior officers of the Armed or Auxiliary Forces; and
c) preferably senior officers of friendly nations.
Course Organization
CDICA is carried out in the hybrid modality. Three weeks are online learning, one is remote learning and three are in-person, with classes from Monday through Thursday (from 9:00am to 4:15pm) and Friday (from 9am to 12:40pm).
The course lasts 7 weeks and the course load is of 165 hrs/year.
CDICA 2025 will be held from March 2 to April 17.
Throughout the course, the students will have the following subjects: Security, Development and Defense: Basic Concepts of International Humanitarian Law; International Relations and IHL; International Institutions; Security and Defense; and Federal Military Justice and IHL.
