NATIONAL DEFENSE AND THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH COURSE (CDNPL)
Objective
To develop competencies for understanding the concepts and approaches about National Security, Development, and Defense, analyzing the role of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, their Strategic Projects, and their impacts on the Defense Industrial Base, in order to contribute effectively to the projects and initiatives of the Legislative Branch.
Audience
a) civilians who act as parliamentary advisor or consultant in the Brazilian Congress;
b) members of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU); and
c) civilians and military of the Armed Forces, appointed by the parliamentary advisory teams of the Ministry of Defense and of the Armed Forces, who act or are appointed to act as parliamentary advisors.
Course Organization
CDNPL is carried out in the hybrid modality, with classes and simulations from Monday through Friday (from 9:00am to 12:35pm).
The course lasts 16 weeks and the course load is of 108 hrs/year.
CDNPL 2026 will be held from March 27 to July 17. The opening will be in-person on March 27, 14 weeks will be remote (March 30 to July 10) and one week will be in-person (July 13 to 17).
Throughout the course, the students will have the following subjects: Brazilian Perspective of National Defense; Defense Planning and Management; The Ministry of Defense and the Preparation and Employment of the Armed Forces; Defense Industrial Base and the Strategic Projects; National Security, Development and Defense; Simulation Exercises; and The Legislative Branch and the National Defense.
