Objetive

To support stricto sensu PPGs belonging to the semiaris region and linked to higher learning institutions (IES) connected to the states listed in item 3.2, focusing in the qualification of top level human resources and the foment of researches aiming at the social, economic and technological development in the Brazilian seiarid region in the following thematic areas:

a) Agroindustry in the Semiarid

b) Biotechnology in the Semiarid.

Specific Objectives

To contribute to the reduction of asymmetries in the National Post-Graduation System (SNPG) taking in consideration the vocations and potentialities identified in the semiarid region of the Country, qualifying masters and doctors for research projects related to the thematic areas of the present Public Notice.
To widen the scientific production and the adoption of innovative technologies in the Strategic Axis listed in item 1.1 of the Public Notice, in themes considered priorities for the sustainable development of the Semiarid region.
To foment the development of researches so as to subsidize the creation of public policies trageted at the regional transformation bearing in mind its potentialities and opportunities;
To contribute to the social and economic development of the Semiarid region by the appropiation of scientific and technological knowledge by the society as a whole;

To promote the transference of knowledge to the society as a whole, stimulating the interaction between the specialized academic community and the organized sectors of society through workshops to be coordinated by the FAPs in their respective states, which will determine the priority themes for the Semiarid region.
