The Federal Nursing Council created in the year of 2014 a working team aiming to finance the qualification of professionals registered in the Nursing area of the Cofen System- Federal Nursing Council , in the stricto sensu post-graduation modality, thus contributing for the improvement and wider visibility of the profession. The report from the above mentioned working team came to the conclusion that the Professional Master modality was the best option for the qualification of professionals in the field, bearing in mind the opportunities offered by the current job market.
The Brazilian Federal Agency for the Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education – Capes – and the National Nursing Council (COFEN) signed in 2016 the Technical Cooperation Agreement nº 30/2016, aiming at a closer technical-scientific cooperation between the parts. Three Public Notices were launched , the first of them with duration of 60 (sixty) months, with possible extension for twelve months. The total budget - from Cofen - amounts to R$ 13.000.000 (thirteen million reais).
The first Public Notice from the Capes -Cofen Agreement was launched in 2016 , with 16 projects, with a total budget of R$ 3.500.000 (three million and five hundred thousand reais ) originated by Cofen.
