Professional Master Program for Basic Education Teachers - ProEB

ProEB is offered to basic education teachers of the public education network, providing continuous stricto sensu qualification for members of the public educational network as established by policies of the Ministry of Education – MEC. It supports Higher Learning Institutions (HLI) or associated networks in the Country responsible for the implementation and execution of courses with concentration areas and themes related directly to the improvement of Basic Education.

CAPES´ support consists in the granting of scholarships and promotion of Professional Master Programs of ProEB, in both on-site and distance modalities.

1. Scholarships are granted and paid directly to teachers working in the public education network and enrolled in the Professional Masters Programs whose academic activities are connected to basic education.
2. Foment resources destined to the funding of academic activities related to the Professional Master Program – ProEB, are calculated in accordance to Ordinance 61 and sent to corresponding Post-Graduation Program (PGP) or to the national network manager.

Objectives:

ProEB aims at the improvement of teaching quality in Basic Education schools of the Brazilian Public Basic Education system.

• It promotes the continuous qualification of basic education teachers working in the national educational network at stricto sensu post-graduation level modality in the Basic Education areas.
• It creates a national network in order to offer professional master programs promoted by higher learning institutions of notable historic in teaching qualification.
• It values experiences drawn from the everyday practices of the teachers and at the same time collaborates, through the development of tools and didactic strategies, in the improvement of learning performances from the students.
• It creates a network of thought concerning the reality of Basic Education in the Country, pointing towards possibilities of changes and the finding of answers to the everyday problems of school and society.

Participant Institutions

Higher Learning Institutions of Public Education registered at the Ministry of Education - MEC.

Target Group

Teachers registered at the public educational network with active work in classrooms.
