Application:
Applications are individual and must take place at the same time in the IIASA and CAPES sites.
We emphasize that applications will only be approved if done at the same time in both institutions.
Requisities:

- To be a Brazilian citizen or a foreigner with permanent visa and to be in physical and mental conditions compatible with the activities to be performed abroad.
- To be living in Brazil at the time of applications; if the candidate is living temporarily abroad, he/she must present a document stating his/her connection with a Brazilian institution.
- Candidates cannot hold a title equal or superior to the scholarship modality.
- To be fluent in the English language, at a compatible level with the activities to be performed.
- To present a research proposal compatible with the IIASA agenda.
- To be regularly enrolled in a Doctorate course in Brazil, recognized by CAPES.
- To not exceed deadlines for the total period of the Doctorate.
- To have obtained a total number of credits in the Doctorate course in Brazil which is compatible with the perspective of the conclusion of the course in due time, after completion of internship abroad.
- To obtain approval in the qualification exam.
- To receive approval from the Brazilian university responsible for the research abroad.
- Candidates cannot have received a scholarship or financial allowance from a public federal agency for the same modality (Sandwich Doctorate). If so, applications will not be considered. If this situation is detected after the concession of the scholarship, it will be cancelled with consequent refunding of amounts received and refund from a public federal agency for the same modality (Sandwich Doctorate).
- To not exceed deadlines (48 months) established for the Doctorate, according to the thesis’ defense, considering time spent in Brazil and period of the Sandwhich scholarship.
- To not accumulate scholarship or financial allowance granted by a public federal agency of any type during the period of the scholarship.
