Internal Governance Committee

The Internal Governance Committee (CIG), established by CAPES Ordinance No. 126 of 2022, is part of the internal governance structure of CAPES. Its goal is to ensure the continuous and progressive development and adoption of best governance practices.

CIG is composed by the president and directors of the institution or, in case of absence, by their legal substitutes. The Committee holds Strategic Evaluation Meetings (RAE) every three months to monitor the institutional strategic plan.

As a deliberative, consultative, and evaluative body, the Committee also addresses various matters related to governance. Among its competencies, the following stand out:

I - promote and monitor the implementation of measures, mechanisms, and organizational governance practices defined by the Interministerial Governance Committee in its manuals, guides, and resolutions;

II - assist senior management in implementing and maintaining processes, structures, and mechanisms suitable for incorporating the principles and guidelines of public governance;

III - encourage and promote initiatives that seek to implement results monitoring in the agency or entity, promote solutions for improving institutional performance, or adopt instruments to enhance the decision-making process;

IV - approve the governance policy of CAPES and its reviews;

V - approve the institutional strategic plan, operational plans of the directorates, and their reviews;

VI - approve the CAPES integrity program and plan and their reviews.

VII - approve the policy and methodology for risk management and internal controls of CAPES and their reviews;

VIII – set CAPES’s risk appetite;

IX - monitor strategic risks, integrity risks, and respective mitigation measures.
