Norwegian Generalized System of Preferences
The Norwegian Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) was officially notified to the World Trade Organization (WTO) on October 1, 1971. It currently benefits about 90 developing countries and, in reference to Brazil, offers preferences for 705 agricultural products and 215 industrial goods. The preferential margins range from 10%, 15%, 30%, 50% to 100%, depending on the product and the country of origin.
Further details on the program can be found in the Handbook prepared by UNCTAD or on the WTO follow-up page. The Norwegian government is the source of official information.
The proof of origin required for products to qualify for concessions is submitted in the REX system ("Registered Exporter System"). More information on how to use the system can be obtained from the Ministry of Economy (seint.rex@economia.gov.br).
