Protocol
The Protocol is one of the areas with the most diversified range of attributions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is responsible for the organization of public events regarding the relationship between Brazil and other countries – from the delivery of credentials to foreign ambassadors to the organization of meetings of Heads of State and Government.
Part of the correspondence between the President of the Republic and his/her foreign counterparts is also the responsibility of the Protocol, as are, among others, the planning and execution of the inauguration of President and Vice-President; the organization of official visits of these authorities abroad; matters related to awards; receptions and other official ceremonies held at Itamaraty Palace, as well as the visits to Brazil of Heads of State and other foreign dignitaries.
