Appeals and Invalidation Procedures

The General Coordination for Appeals and Administrative Invalidation Procedures (CGREC) is a singular, specific agency that reports directly to the Presidency of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and is responsible for: 

• Examine and provide technical subsidies for the decision of the President of INPI with respect to the appeals and administrative invalidation procedures, filed pursuant to the current industrial property legislation, issuing an opinion on the technical matter raised and in the other appeals regarding intellectual property, whose competence of registration is assigned to the INPI by force of law; 

• Guiding and coordinating the systematization, organization, and updating of the administrative decisions related to industrial and intellectual property, aiming at consolidating an administrative case law for the matter.
