The curriculum of the Graduate Program in Astronomy (Master and Doctorate) consists of three types of courses:

  • Basic: they are mandatorily offered once a year; Master and Doctorate students must complete at least 12 (twelve) credits in this type of courses
  • Regular: they are offered regularly and cover the main areas of the Graduate Program in Astronomy
  • Eventual: they are offered separately and on demand, and do not form part of the stable curriculum

AST-X02    -    STATISTICAL MECHANICS   (*)

AST-X03    -    QUANTUM MECHANICS   (*)

(*) Mandatory courses of the Graduate Programs in Physics; they are taken at other institutions (UFRJ, UERJ, UFF, PUC-Rio) and are recognized by the Graduate Program in Astronomy.

NOTE: Each credit equals 15 hours-class

WARNING: The courses taken at other institutions will only have their credits assessed and, eventually, accepted when carried out in accordance with the provisions of art. 43 of the Graduate Program Regulations, and of art. 22 of the Specific Rules of the Astronomy Program.
