The Graduate Program of the National Institute for Space Research (Observatório Nacional) was accredited by the Federal Council of Education – CFE, Opinion 05/73 from 22/01/73. It was re-accredited by CFE through Opinion 755/93 from 06/12/93, for the area of Astronomy at the Master's and Doctorate levels, and for the area of Geophysics at the Master's level. Starting from 03/09/1998, two programs were accredited, one in Astronomy and another in Geophysics, both at the Master's and Doctorate levels.
