Withdrawal of the account balance of the Government Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) by Brazilians abroad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) signed an Addendum to the Commitment Agreement of July 2010, which will allow withdrawals of personal account balances of the Government Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) for Brazilians living abroad.

Currently, according to the 2010 Commitment Agreement (see Release n. 448/2010), only the Brazilian General Consulates in Japan are able to receive the required documentation for the withdrawal of FGTS accounts. The Addendum signed today will offer flexibility for the gradual expansion of that service for Brazilians living in other countries.
