Visit to Brazil of the Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Ambassador Irvin La Rocque – Brasilia, October 26, 2015

The Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Ambassador Irvin La Rocque, will pay an official visit to Brasilia on October 26, 2015,  when he will be received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira.

Ambassador La Rocque will also deliver a lecture on CARICOM at the Rio Branco Institute.

CARICOM, established in 1973 and with headquarters in Georgetown (Guyana), aims to promote the integration and economic development of its members. It is composed of 14 countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago, besides Montserrat, a British overseas territory. The following territories are associate members: Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgen Islands, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands.

Trade between Brazil and the CARICOM countries reached 3.7 billion US dollars in 2014, more than tenfold compared to the year 2000.
