Visit to Brazil of the Foreign Minister of Uruguay, Rodolfo Nin Novoa – Brasília, April 16, 2015
The Foreign Minister of Uruguay, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, will visit Brasilia on April 16, when he will have a worki meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira. This is the first visit to Brazil by the foreign minister of the Government of President Tabaré Vásquez, who took office in Uruguay on March1. The high degree of cooperation between Brazil and Uruguay has created a new paradigm for relationship between the two countries, aimed at promoting profound and wide-ranging integration.
Among other areas of cooperation, Brazil and Uruguay have adopted measures to promote greater industrial complementation, increased dynamism in the integration of infrastructure, greater fluidity across our borders, more and better trade, and consolidation of the connections between our energy sectors. Created in 2012, the Brazil-Uruguay High-Level Group is the entity responsible for overseeing such integration projects.
With regard to trade, Brazil is the main destination for Uruguayan exports and the second largest supplier of Uruguay’s imports. In 2014, bilateral trade reached the unprecedented level of US $ 4.9 billion, surpassing the previous record set in 2012.
