Visit to Brazil by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Doctor Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, makes an official visit to Brazil from the 23rd to the 24th of August.
On August 24th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Carlos Alberto Franco França, and Minister Jaishankar will co-chair at the Itamaraty Palace the 8th Meeting of the Joint Committee on Political, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation, the main instance of regular dialogue between Brazil and India. The meeting takes place within the framework of the Action Plan to Strengthen the Strategic Partnership, adopted on the occasion of the State visit of Mr. President of the Republic to India in January 2020.
Topics such as trade, investment, cooperation, the situation in Ukraine, food and energy, security and issues on the United Nations Security Council agenda, including its reform, will be discussed, since the two countries are part of the body in 2022. Issues related to the BRICS and IBSA and coordination in international forums on sustainable development will also be analyzed.
In Brasília, Minister Jaishankar will also hold meetings with high authorities of the Brazilian Government and will give a lecture to diplomats who are students of the Rio Branco Institute, the Brazilian diplomatic academy. In São Paulo, he will participate in business events and meetings with the Indian community.
