At the invitation of President Luong Cuong, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will visit the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on March 28–29, 2025. The purpose of the visit is to define joint actions and initiatives to implement the Strategic Partnership between Brazil and Vietnam, announced on November 17, 2024, when President Lula and Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chin, met on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Elevating diplomatic relations with Vietnam to the level of a Strategic Partnership will enable the two countries to deepen political dialogue, strengthen economic cooperation, expand trade and investment flows, enhance coordination on multilateral issues, and promote new cooperation initiatives.
In 2024, Brazil and Vietnam registered bilateral trade totaling US$7.7 billion, with Brazil posting a surplus of US$415 million. Vietnam has become the fifth-largest global destination for Brazilian agribusiness exports and stands out as one of the world’s major producers of coffee, rice, and electronic products, sectors with the potential for increased bilateral cooperation.
