Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa Lunda, to Brazil
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa Lunda, is undertaking a working visit to Brasília today, January 30, accompanied by the Minister of Hydrocarbons, Franklin Molina, and the Minister of Rural Development and Lands, Remmy González. This marks Minister Sosa's second visit to Brazil since assuming office as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia in November 2023.
Minister Sosa and her delegation will hold a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira. Bilateral topics of interest will be addressed, including physical integration, fertilizer trade, border cooperation, and energy, as well as regional and multilateral issues, including dialogue within the framework of MERCOSUR and the ACTO.
The visit will also be an opportunity to evaluate ongoing projects in the area of infrastructure between the two countries, such as the bridge over the Mamoré River, which will connect the cities of Guajará-Mirim, in Brazil, and Guayaramerín, in Bolivia.
Bolivia is the country with which Brazil shares its longest land border, spanning over 3400 kilometers. Brazil is Bolivia's largest trading partner. In 2022, the total bilateral trade amounted to approximately US$ 3.3 billion, with Brazilian exports reaching US$ 1.8 billion and imports at US$ 1.85 billion. Bolivia is the primary supplier of natural gas to the Brazilian market, playing an essential role in Brazil's energy security.
