Visit of Minister José Serra to Spain – Madrid, November 21-23, 2016

Minister José Serra will travel to Spain between the 21 and 23 of November. On the 21st, he will meet with the Secretary of State for Trade, María Luísa Poncela. The next day, he will be hosted by King Felipe VI and by the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, and will meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Alfonso Dastis.
In his meetings with Spanish authorities, Minister Serra will discuss bilateral issues including cooperation in science, technology and innovation, trade and investment. In addition, themes of the regional agenda including negotiations of a free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union will be reviewed.
On March 23, Minister Serra will take part in a seminar on business along with the Ministers of Transportation, Ports and Civil Aviation, of Mines and Energy, and the Head of the Investment Partnership Program. The event will be coordinated by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX-Brasil) and its Spanish counterpart, ICEX-España Exportación e Inversiones. During the event, the "Crescer Project", which provides for the bidding process of 34 projects in the Brazilian infrastructure field, will be presented to Spanish investors.
Spain is the third largest individual investor in Brazil, with investment stock totaling nearly 53.8 billion euros in 2014. Brazilian investments in that country, of around 14.7 billion euros, have achieved a significant increase in recent years and made Brazil one of the main investors in Spain among emerging countries. In 2015, trade between Brazil and Spain reached 5.8 billion euros.
