Visit of IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano – São Paulo, Brasília and Rio de Janeiro, November 23-25
ABThe Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, is visiting Brazil between 23 and 25 of November.
In São Paulo, the IAEA Director General visited the Aramar Experimental Center in Iperó, including the Brazilian Multipurpose Reactor project, which will allow the country to achieve autonomy in the field of radioisotopes for nuclear medicine.
On the 24th, in Brasilia, Yukiya Amano will be hosted by the Minister of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication, Gilberto Kassab, the Commander of the Brazilian Navy, Eduardo Bacellar Leal Ferreira, and the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Marcos Galvão.
The Director General of the IAEA will also visit the Almirante Álvaro Alberto Nuclear Center in Angra dos Reis on the 25th. In Rio de Janeiro, on the same day, he will hold meetings at the Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials (ABACC) and at the National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN).
Brazil, a founding member of the IAEA, is actively engaged in the works of the Agency, which aims to ensure the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technology, while promoting peace and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
