Torrential Rains in South Korea
The Brazilian government received with sorrow the news of the human and material losses caused by the heavy rains in the Republic of Korea and expresses its solidarity with the government and the people of that country.
The increasing occurrence of extreme weather events reinforces the urgency for a global response to climate change, through the strengthening of the multilaterally agreed regime under the Climate Convention (UNFCCC) and its instruments, in order to achieve common, effective, fair, and lasting solutions.
The Embassy of Brazil in Seoul is closely monitoring the situation to provide the necessary consular assistance to Brazilian citizens and can be contacted at +82 10 9519-8700. So far, there have been no reports of Brazilian nationals being victims or displaced by the storms.
