The Vice-President of the Council of Minister of Cuba, Marino Alberto Murillo Jorge, to visit Brazil – Brasilia, April 4, 2013
The Minister of External Relations, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will host the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Alberto Marino Murillo Jorge, in a working dinner in Brasilia on April 4. During his visit to Brazil, Vice-President Marino Murillo will also meet with the Vice-President of the Republic, Michel Temer.
Minister Patriota and Vice-President Murillo will examine the main issues on the bilateral and regional agenda, which covers trade, investment, cooperation and support of development. Cooperation between Brazil and Cuba includes funding to carry out projects in sectors such as food, agriculture and infrastructure. Cuba holds the pro tempore presidency of CELAC in 2013.
Trade between Brazil and Cuba grew by over 600% between 2003 and 2012. From 2010 to 2012 Brazilian exports to Cuba increased by 36.9%. In 2012, bilateral trade flow reached a record of US$ 661.6 million. In the first two months of 2013 trade between the two countries grew by 11.6% over the same period last year.
