The Secretary of State for International Development of the United Kingdom, Andrew Mitchell, to visit Brazil
On 12 April, the Minister of External Relations, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, hosted the Secretary of State for International Development of the United Kingdom, Andrew Mitchell, when they signed a letter of intention to support food and nutritional security in low-income countries.
The document aims at establishing partnerships between Brazil and the United Kingdom on sustainable international humanitarian cooperation projects that involve the exchange of experiences and technologies – such as the Brazilian experience in areas such as food security, nutritional security and local food purchases in developing countries.
The first project to benefit from this partnership is the Local Food Purchase Program developed jointly by Itamaraty and the United Nations Organization for Agriculture and Food (FAO) and with the World Food Program (PMA), currently in operation in five African countries - Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger and Senegal.
