The Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, to visit Brazil – August 7 to 9, 2011
The Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, will pay an official visit to Brazil from August 7 to 9. The Prime Minister’s delegation will comprise, among other authorities, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, John Baird; the Minister of International Trade, Edward Fast; the Minister for the Americas and Consular Affairs, Diane Ablonczy; and the Minister of Government Services and Status of Women, Rona Ambrose, as well as Canadian businesspeople.
While in Brasilia, on August 8, the Canadian Head of Government will hold a working meeting with President Dilma Rousseff to discuss joint initiatives on trade and investments, infrastructure and energy, and to go over the bilateral, regional and international agendas.
Canada is the main destination for Brazilian investments abroad, with an accumulated stock exceeding US$ 21 billion, and has expanded its productive investments in Brazil. In 2010, Brazilian exports to Canada reached US$ 2.3 billion, with a slight predominance of industrialized products, and the bilateral trade flow exceeded US$ 5 billion, a rise over 50% with regard to the previous year.
