Passing of Ambassador Sergio Amaral

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is saddened to inform of the passing of Ambassador Sergio Amaral last night, July 13th, in São Paulo.

Throughout his brilliant career, Amaral headed the embassies of Brazil in London, Paris and Washington, and under President Fernando Henrique Cardoso he served as Spokesperson of the Presidency of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, among other important positions.

To the family and the many friends Ambassador Amaral cultivated throughout his lifetime, Minister Mauro Vieira, on behalf of the Ministry, conveys his condolences and expresses the recognition of a long history of important service to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to Brazil.
