The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Surapong Tovichakchaikul, to visit Brazil – São Paulo and Brasília, August 15-18, 2012
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Surapong Tovichakchaikul, will make an official visit to Brazil from August 15 to 18. In Brasília, on the 17, he will hold a working meeting with Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota.
The Foreign Ministers will address priority bilateral issues, such as trade, renewable energies, agriculture, science and technology, tourism, health and education.
During the visit, Memorandums of Understanding on the establishment of a Political Consultation Mechanism and on Trilateral Technical Cooperation will also be signed.
With 67 million inhabitants, Thailand is Brazil’s main trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN. Bilateral trade reached US$ 4.2 billion in 2011, an increase by around 523% since 2003. Last year, Brazilian exports to Thailand totaled US$ 1.8 billion, with imports of US$ 2.4 billion.
