The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan, visits Brazil
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, will hold a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan, on April 17, at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasilia. On that occasion, the first Meeting of Political Consultations between Brazil and Singapore will be held.
The Ministers will debate the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations, and exchange and cooperation in trade and investment, food security, climate change, energy transition, education, science, technology, and innovation. The status Brazil recently acquired as a Sectorial Dialogue Partner at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), an international organization based in Jakarta, Indonesia, composed of 10 countries in the region, including Singapore, will also be discussed. In addition, the Ministers will address bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of common interest.
Singapore is the second destination for Brazilian exports in Asia and the seventh in the world. Bilateral trade has reached its highest historical mark, with a total of $ 9.39 billion in 2022. Singapore is also an important investor in Brazil, in areas such as infrastructure, logistics, shipbuilding, telecommunications, and education.
