The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay visits Brasília - August 30, 2023

Minister Mauro Vieira will host the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, for a working visit to Brasília on August 30. This marks Minister Lezcano’s first mission abroad since he took office on August 15, following the inauguration of President Santiago Peña. The visit underscores the priority of the bilateral relationship for the two countries.

During a working meeting, the two minsters will address key topics of the bilateral and regional agendas, including Itaipu Binacional, common infrastructure projects, cooperation in combating transnational crimes, defense cooperation, and the economic and trade agenda. Discussions will also encompass matters related to South American integration, MERCOSUR, and the current situation in the region.

Regarding the global agenda, the ministers will engage in conversations about their governments' participation in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly and about the Brazilian G20 presidency.

Brazil has invited Paraguay to participate in the G20 in 2024, during the Brazilian presidency.
