The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Michèle Alliot-Marie, to visit Brazil – São Paulo and Brasília, 21 and 22 February 2011
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Michèle Alliot-Marie, will make an official visit to Brazil on 21 and 22 February 2011.
On February 21, the French Foreign Minister has a work agenda in São Paulo. On February 22, in Brasília, she will have a working meeting with Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota. At the meeting, to be held at Palácio Itamaraty, they will assess the developments of the Bilateral Strategic Partnership, in areas such as energy and border cooperation. The Ministers will also address issues in the international agenda, such as climate change and the reform of global governance institutions, focusing on the expansion of the United Nations Security Council and on the debates within the G20.
Between 2009 and 2010, exports to France increased 23%, which made Brazilian sales to the country rise from US$2.9 billion to US$3.5 billion. France is Brazil’s 8th top trading partner and 5th top foreign investor. Brazil is also the main destination for French investments in Latin America.
