The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, to visit Sweden – Stockholm, 28 and 29 August 2012
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will visit Sweden on August 28-29, 2012. In Stockholm, he will meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt, and the Minister for International Development Cooperation, Gunilla Carlsson.
The Foreign Ministers will go over the main areas of the bilateral Strategic Partnership and address multilateral affairs, such as the developments of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), international peace and security issues and human rights.
Ministers Patriota and Carlsson will sign a “Memorandum of Understanding on Partnership and Dialogue for Global Development”, with a view to promoting joint initiatives to reduce poverty in third countries.
In the last five years, trade exchange between Brazil and Sweden increased about 8.1%. In 2011, trade exceeded US$ 2.7 billion, a 30.5% growth over the previous year. Between 2001 and 2011, Swedish investments in Brazil amounted to about US$ 1.1 billion.
