The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, to visit Peru – Lima, August 6, 2012
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will visit Peru on August 6 at the invitation of the Peruvian Foreign Minister, Rafael Roncagliolo.
The bilateral agenda includes physical and energy integration, cooperation initiatives on education, science and technology and social development and joint actions to fight drug trafficking in the cross-border region.
Regional affairs related to the Pro Tempore UNASUR Presidency, currently held by Peru, and to the preparation for the Third Summit of South-America-Arab Countries – ASPA, to be held on 1 and 2 October, in Lima, will also be discussed.
Between 2003 and 2011, trade exchange between Brazil and Peru increased from around US$ 700 million to US$ 3.6 billion. Peruvian sales to Brazil expanded 200% between 2005 and 2011. Brazilian direct investment stock in Peru is estimated to be worth around US$ 5 billion, specially in the service and mining sectors. Brazil is Peru’s third largest trade partner.
