The 42nd meeting of the Brazil-Germany Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation – Joinville, September 22, 2015

On September 22, the 42nd meeting of the Brazil-Germany Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in the city of Joinville, Santa Catarina state. The meeting was  chaired by the Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, Ambassdor Sérgio Danese and by the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, Matthias Machnig. Participants on the Brazilian side included representatives of the Ministries of Development, Industry and Trade, of Science, Technology and Innovation, of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, and of Labor and Employment, of the Brazilian National Industry Confederation (CNI), of Brazil's National Service for Industrial Training (SESI), of Bazil's Industrial Research and Innovation Corporation (EMBRAPII) and of the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (ABAG).

The agenda for the meeting included themes of top priority for the Brazilian Government, such as cooperation in science, technology and innovation, professional training education and energy. Topics of the interest to entrepreneurs from the two countries were equally addressed.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 33rd Brazil-Germany Economic Meeting (20-22 September), an annual event hosted alternately by the two countries and organized jointly by the Brazilian National Industry Confederation (CNI) and the Federation of German Industries (BDI), with the participation of representatives of governmental and private sectors.

The meeting of the Joint Commission took place just over a month after the Brazil-Germany High Level Intergovernmental Consultations, held last August, on the occasion of the visit of Chancellor Angela Merkel to Brazil.
