Storms and tornadoes in the United States

The Government of Brazil has learned with consternation of the storms and tornadoes that struck the territory of the United States of America over the weekend, causing severe human and material losses in Kentucky and Missouri. In extending its solidarity to the families of the victims, the Government of Brazil offers its condolences to the American people and Government.

The Government of Brazil reiterates that climate change intensifies extreme events and makes disasters such as this increasingly frequent, underscoring the urgency of concerted action by the international community.

There are no reports, to date, of Brazilian nationals among the victims.
