PRESS RELEASE N. 261
State Visit to Brazil of the President of the Argentine Republic, Alberto Fernández, in the context of the celebration of 200 years of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Argentina - June 26, 2023
At the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President of the Argentine Republic, Alberto Fernández, will pay a state visit to Brazil on June 26, in the context of the celebration of 200 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Besides the meeting with President Lula, the Argentinean president will be received by the presidents of the National Congress and the Federal Supreme Court.
Argentina was the first country to recognize Brazil's independence and with which we have established diplomatic relations. The Brazilian government gives a strategic and priority status to the relations with the country, a fundamental axis of MERCOSUR and of the South American integration process.
The state visit takes place in the context of the resumption of the bilateral strategic partnership, which began with President Lula's visit to Argentina on January 23, when a joint declaration was signed with multiple commitments that further deepened bilateral ties.
Argentina is Brazil's third main commercial partner. In 2022, Brazilian exports to Argentina reached a value of $ 15.3 billion. Imports of Argentine products, in turn, reached $ 13 billion. Bilateral trade, marked by its high added value, plays a strategic role for the development and industrialization of both countries.
