The Brazilian Government has been following with concern the situation in Mali since 22 March, when a military uprising led to a breach of the constitutional order in that country.
The Brazilian Government supports the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) efforts in encouraging a peaceful dialogue which allows for Mali to return to institutional normalcy – among them, the appointment of the President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaoré, to act as mediator of the organization between the parties of the conflict.
