PRESS RELEASE N. 486
Situation in Israel and Palestine. Repatriation of Brazilians.
Since 10/10, 1413 individuals and more than 50 pets have left Israel on 8 Brazilian Air Force flights as part of the "Returning in Peace" Operation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy in Tel Aviv, began registering Brazilians interested in repatriation on 08/10, the day after the attacks.
For each repatriation flight, the Embassy prepared a list of passengers based on priority criteria and maintained the necessary contacts to mobilize the candidates. It provided transportation from central areas of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to the airport and made arrangements that allowed the boarding of domestic animals.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has maintained its guidance, as it has since the outbreak of the conflict, that all Brazilian nationals in Israel who have airline tickets or the means to acquire them should board commercial flights from Ben-Gurion Airport, which continues to operate.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Brazilian Embassy in Tel Aviv, continues to be in contact with local authorities regarding a Brazilian who has been missing since 10/07. A group of about 30 Brazilians and their direct relatives awaiting evacuation from the Gaza Strip is sheltered in the Khan Younis and Rafah areas near the Egyptian border. The Brazilian government, through the Brazilian Representation Office in Ramallah, maintains constant contact with these nationals, providing all possible assistance, including accommodation in Rafah and essential items. Vehicles contracted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remain on standby, awaiting authorization for the group to cross the Rafah terminal.
Brazil continues to make high-level efforts to facilitate the entry of Brazilians into Egypt. An aircraft used by the Presidency of the Republic remains in Cairo, awaiting authorization to rescue Brazilians from the Gaza Strip.
The Brazilian government once again advises against any non-essential travel to the region.
The consular duty offices of the Embassy in Tel Aviv (+972 (54) 803 5858) and the Representation Office in Ramallah (+972 (59) 205 5510), with WhatsApp, remain operational to assist nationals in emergency situations.
