Sebastião Salgado is elected to the French Academy of Fine Arts

The Brazilian Government welcomed with great satisfaction the election on April 13 of the renowned Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado to the French Academy of Fine Arts, one of the five academies of the "Institute of France".

The election reaffirms the international recognition of the work of one of the most awarded Brazilian artists in recent history.
