In today’s meeting of the 39th Session of the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome, Brazilian José Graziano was re-elected as the organization’s Director-General for the 2016-2019 term. Mr. Graziano’s 177 votes were the most ever won by a candidate in the history of the FAO.
Brazil would like to thank all FAO members for the full support they gave its candidate. The Brazilian government will continue in its effort to support further intensification of the reform process and strengthening the organization, so that its contribution to the eradication of hunger and world social and economic development becomes even more relevant.
