Yesterday, June 1, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Serra, deposited to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris the instrument of ratification of the Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters ("Multilateral Convention"). Brazil signed the instrument in 2011, and, on 14 April 2016, the National Congress approved it.
The ratification of the Multilateral Convention will allow Brazil to expand its network of exchange of financial and tax information with other member countries and therefore to strengthen the fight against tax evasion and aggressive tax planning.
