Presidential election in Paraguay

The Brazilian Government congratulates the authorities and the people of Paraguay on the general elections held today, April 30, which were conducted in a harmonious and democratic environment, and also compliments Mr. Santiago Peña on his election as President of the Republic of Paraguay.

The Brazilian Government wishes the President-elect every success in the accomplishment of his mandate. Reaffirming the historic ties of friendship between Brazil and Paraguay and the high priority given to bilateral relations, the Brazilian Government expresses its willingness to continue deepening the partnership for the economic and social development of both countries and the whole of South America.
