President Lula takes part in the World Food Forum and in the meeting of the Board of Champions of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty
The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, took part in the opening of the World Food Forum, held at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on October 13. The event marked the celebration of FAO’s 80th anniversary.
In his speech, President Lula acknowledged the importance of the historic partnership between Brazil and the Organization and celebrated Brazil’s leaving FAO’s Hunger Map for the second time.
The President also participated in the opening of the Second Meeting of the Board of Champions of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, a governance framework aimed at helping to accelerate the implementation of the initiative. On the occasion, the headquarters of the Alliance’s Support Mechanism (secretariat) was inaugurated, and Brazilian diplomat Renato Godinho was appointed Director of the mechanism.
