President Dilma Rousseff to visit the People’s Republic of China – Beijing, April 12-13, 2011
President Dilma Rousseff will pay a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China, on April 12 and 13.
In Beijing, on 12 April, President Rousseff will hold talks with President Hu Jintao, when they will address the enhancement of the Brazilian-Chinese Strategic Partnership, with special attention to the bilateral agenda, particularly trade, investments and science and technology and issues in the multilateral agenda. The President will also meet the Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Wu Bangguo, and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, on 13 April.
On 12 April, President Dilma Rousseff will open the “Brazil-China High Level Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation” and close the “Brasil-China Business Seminar: beyond complementarity”, with the expected attendance of several business officials from both countries.
During the visit, several bilateral agreements are expected to be signed, in areas such as science and technology, defense, agriculture, energy, education, sports, among others. In the business sector, acts will be signed on energy, telecommunications and electronics.
China is Brazil’s biggest trading partner, with a US$ 56 billion exchange in 2010, which is a 52.7% growth with regard to 2009. Trade surplus for Brazil in 2010 exceeded US$ 5 billion. In 2010, China was also the largest foreign investor in Brazil.
