President Dilma Rousseff to visit Colombia – Cartagena de Indias, April 15, 2012
President Dilma Rousseff will hold a meeting with the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, in Cartagena de Indias, on April 15, following the Sixth Summit of the Americas.
The Presidents will examine ways of promoting trade and investment between the two countries and strengthening cooperation in areas such as bioenergy, defense, health, culture, education, science and technology. They will also address regional and global affairs.
Following the presidential meeting, Brazil will be the guest of honor country at Bogotá International Book Fair. The Minister of Culture, Ana de Hollanda, will attend the opening ceremony of the Fair, on April 16.
Colombian students are the main receivers of scholarships granted by the Brazilian Government within the Scholarship Program for Graduate (PEC-G) and Postgraduate (PEC-PG) students.
In 2011, trade flow increased 17% over the previous year and reached US$ 3.9 billion. In the same period, Brazilian exports expanded 17.63%, while imports increased 28.7%. The current stock of Brazilian investment in Colombia is estimated at US$ 2.5 billion.
