President Dilma Rousseff to participate in the 7th G20 Summit - Los Cabos, 18 and 19 June 2012
President Dilma Rousseff will participate in the 7th Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico, on 18 and 19 June 2012.
The G20 Heads of State and Government will meet in three working sessions, in which the following topics will be discussed: global economy and the Framework for Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth; strengthening of the international financial architecture and promotion of financial inclusion; international trade and job creation; development, inclusive green growth, infrastructure and food security.
The G20 was established in 1999, as a result of the crises in the balance of payments that occurred throughout the 1990s. From 2008 on, in recognition of the need for increased cooperation to overcome the crisis in developed countries, it began to convene at the level of Heads of State and Government. The G20 members are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States. These countries account for approximately 85% of the world’s trade, 90% of its GDP and two thirds of the world’s population.
For the 7th G20 Summit, the following countries will attend as guests of the Mexican presidency: Benin (chair of the African Union – AU), Cambodia (chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN), Ethiopia (chair of the New Partnership for Africa's Development – NEPAD), Chile (chair of the Community of Latin America and Caribbean States - CELAC); Colombia and Spain.
