PRESS RELEASE N. 492
Presentation of Results of the Undergraduate Student Agreement Program (PEC-G)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), through the Guimarães Rosa Institute, held the event "Educational Cooperation and Foreign Policy: Perspectives and Presentation of PEC-G 2024 Results" in Brasília on Thursday (10/26).
The Undergraduate Student Agreement Program (PEC-G), jointly administered by MRE and the Ministry of Education, offers foreign students the opportunity to pursue their undergraduate studies at Brazilian higher education institutions. Since its inception in 1965, PEC-G has benefited over ten thousand students.
For the 2024 edition of PEC-G, 866 international students applied, double the number from the previous call, from 44 countries. As part of the program, over one hundred Brazilian higher education institutions are expected to welcome these students starting in the first semester of 2024.
Itamaraty supports the internationalization of Brazilian higher education institutions, the promotion of study opportunities in Brazil, and the formation of alumni networks. In addition to contributing to the human capital development of other developing countries, PEC-G also strengthens national educational institutions, and enhances the interaction and integration of Brazilian students with foreign exchange students.
