The Brazilian Government has learned, through Foreign Minister Nicolás Maduro, who arrived in Brasília in the evening of 9 May, that President Hugo Chávez will not be able to travel to Brazil for the visit scheduled for 10 May, on medical advice, in order to treat a knee lesion, which will require rest in the next days.
President Chavez’s visits to Ecuador and Cuba were also put on hold.
The Minister of External Relations will receive Foreign Minister Maduro, in the morning of 10 May, to assess the main issues in the bilateral and regional agendas.
A new date for the visit of President Hugo Chávez to Brazil will be set as soon as the Venezuelan President has recovered.
