Peace Agreement between the Colombia Government and the FARC-EP

The Brazilian Government received with great satisfaction the news that the Colombian Government and the FARC-EP have reached a new peace agreement in Havana, which incorporates adjustments, clarifications and suggestions presented throughout the last weeks by the several sectors that supported the "no" option in the referendum of October 2.  

The Brazilian Government hopes this new text receives the necessary support from the Colombian people and that the same spirit of goodwill and national reconciliation prevails during the implementation of the peace agreement, as well as during the negotiations still in course with the ELN (National Liberation Army), for the benefit of Colombia and the entire region.

As usual, Brazil will continue to contribute, to the extent of its possibilities and according to the requests of the Colombian Government, so that peace can finally reach Colombia, friend and neighboring country to which, at this historic moment, we reiterate our congratulations and our solidarity.
