Paulo Vannuchi elected to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
The Brazilian government has welcomed the election of Mr. Paulo de Tarso Vannuchi to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights for the period 2014-2017. Brazil also congratulates the other two candidates elected, Messrs. José de Jesús Orozco Henríquez, from Mexico, and James Cavallaro, from the United States.
The election took place during the 43rd General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), held in Antigua, Guatemala, and completed today, June 6, 2013. Nominees from six countries competed for the three vacancies in the Commission.
Brazil thanks all the member countries of the Organization of American States for the trust placed in Mr. Paul Vannuchi. The election of the Brazilian candidate to the IACHR bolsters Brazil's commitment to strengthening the Inter-American System of Human Rights.
